Preserve Our Elementary Music Program!

February 2010

Due to dramatic cuts of nearly 20% in state funding, the SMMUSD Superintendent recommended on January 30th that the Board of Education, at a minimum, eliminate 3rd grade music instruction next year (September 2010) and possibly eliminate 4th and 5th grade music instruction.

If approved by the Board, this means that Elementary Music teachers would receive "pink slips" in March, effective at the end of the school year in June.
The Board of Education will vote on this at their March 4th meeting.
